We start off the training by examining the home in which the parents in class were raised. This first session called “Functional and Dysfunctional homes” helps parents to realize who they became as a result of their upbringing. In turn it helps them to realize how their children may experience them. We describe three types of dysfunctional homes and point out how children raised in those homes may turn out. Then we paint a picture of a functional home with practical tips on how parents can attain this level of functionality. The rest of the training equips parents with biblical convictions regarding reasons why we do what we do and gives parents step-by-step practical skills that allow parents to implement what they are learning.
Topics covered include: The scriptural basis for training and discipline of children; The training process: An explanation of discipline; Suggested levels of discipline; How to impart wisdom and life skills to your children; How fathers and mothers influence their children; The spiritual development of children; Helping your child to succeed and finally The role of play and affection in the process of raising your children. This course is recommended for prospective parents as well as parents of children of all ages 0-12. If your children are all in their teenage years, then we recommend that you attend our “Parenting Adolescents” class that specifically deals with joys and challenges of raising teens. If you have teens as well as younger children, we recommend that you start with this course then enroll in the “Parenting Adolescents” course.
How does the course run?
Class lasts for 2 hours (usually 7.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m.) on Saturday mornings. Parents register online and when they come to class they receive a reading book called “Raising Future Parents” (RFP) and a study guide called “Raising The Next Generation” (RNG).
Parents are given home work which they are expected to complete before coming to class. Reading RFP gives parents their first exposure. Studying RNG is exposure no. 2. Listening to the lecture is exposure no. 3. Learning from responses to questions or the experience of other parents in class is exposure no. 4. Returning home and working on projects in the study guide is exposure no. 5.
Our goal is to ensure that parents are immersed in the content and come out strong.

What if you cannot physically attend class?
We have an online class which you can enroll in. With this enrollment you will have access to our content for a reasonable fee for a period of 3 months which can be extended by another month upon request. You will be able to listen to 25 lectures on-line. Each lecture is about 20 minutes long. You will be able to download some questions and use them for your own benefit or in a small group discussion. Each lecture comes with a 3-5 minute preview which you can listen to before choosing to enroll in class.
The course is designed for parents of adolescents. In reality, some children start experiencing hormonal changes in their bodies as early as age 9. For these children, the transition process into adulthood has started. So we recommend that parents of children ages 9 and above attend this course so they can get to know what to expect as their children grow older. It’s never too early to start learning about teens.

Our reference text is “Courageous Parenting” by David Hutchins. Some of the sessions covered in class come directly from the book (used with permission) while others were developed by our team. After class, we encourage participants to form small groups and dig deeper into the book that has 16 chapters in it.
Peers are the biggest negative influence to our children. But there is something we can do about it. Parents should be the primary source of spiritual influence – and many parents want to be – but they have no clue how to go about it besides reading a devotional or bible story to their children.
The PWP workshop coaches parents on how to systematically disciple their children. But it does more than that. We meet once a week for 7 weeks. Each meeting lasts for two and a half hours. We begin by getting parents learning how to have Time Alone With God (TAWG) using a journal. The journal uses carefully framed questions that allows the parent to draw from the passage and write down how they will act on it. We then go over the why and how of Scripture Memory and later we cover Scripture Meditation. Every week parents have a study, in small groups, to discuss what it means to know God personally. Through each discussion, a step in sharing the gospel is covered. At the end of just 4 discussions, parents can share the gospel systematically. This is revolutionary for parents who have known the Lord but have never led anyone to Christ.
Any child, who can read, should be able to read the Bible. While printed devotionals are great, we believe that with a little help, your child can learn from the raw Word of God.
Instead of mentoring your children, we coach you to mentor them. Parents who have learnt to take in God’s word for themselves are then coached to pass this on to their children. Once parents and children are consistent in taking in God’s word, the parents then invite their children’s peers to join in. So we have parents, their children and their children’s friends hearing from God, storing up God’s word in their hearts, growing together and influencing each other (peer-to-peer) with good content. The outcome? Peers without Pressure!

Family Care Fellowship:
We introduced the materials to our Family Care Fellowship in June 2014. Prior to this, we had all sorts of challenges with the family and we were looking to God for solutions. Between June and August 2014, 18 parents went through your content. Between September and December 2014, 22 additional parents went through it.
During the monthly Family Care Fellowship at least 50 couples have been mentored through the materials.
Fair Oaks School
On the 17th November 2014, 250 parents from the Fair Oak School had an opportunity to learn about the four types of parenting styles revealed in your DVD no. 1 on Functional and Dysfunctional Homes. The results were amazing.
